    Editor's Rating

    Size

The SB900 weighs in at a sturdy 160 lbs. The heavy steel tubing frame has an aluminum shroud, offering stability even during the highest cadence. This strong frame supports a 48 lb. chrome plated flywheel with magnetic braking design for smooth transitions between resistance levels. Maximum weight capacity is 300 lbs. and it stands at 24 inches tall by 40 inches wide. However, do not worry about being able to move it – there are two small wheels hidden upfront to give you a hand. To top it off, Sole puts their money where their mouth is with a lifetime warranty on the frame.

Anyone outside of "average" height will be grateful for the fully adjustable seat and handlebars. These adjust both up and down, backwards and forwards. Depending on the adjustments, the length from handlebars to seat can range from 17.5 inches to 30 inches. This is key in providing users of all heights a comfortable workout. Are you miserable without a favorite seat or specialty pedals? The seat and foot pedals are industry standard, so go ahead and customize to make this an even more comfortable piece of equipment! Riders from 5'2" to 6'5" use the SB900 comfortably.

      Features

Maximize your workout by easily monitoring your heart rate to stay in your target zone. The LCD monitor is mounted to the handlebars and is compatible with your chest-strap heart monitor. Use the large, easy to read 3x4 inch screen to track your workout goals with RPM, time, Kcal, distance and speed. The obligatory water bottle holder is also up front on the handlebars, reminding you to stay hydrated while you work up a sweat.

It is hard to find anything to complain about with this exercise bike, but if you are not a cycling enthusiast already, you may want to check out some lower priced options, like the BodyCraft SPX Club Indoor Cycling Bike. LCD display monitor and clip-in pedals are not standard on this bike, so it may by a viable starter if you're on a tight budget you can add these later. If you are looking for more of an outdoor riding experience, The Schwinn A.C. Sport Indoor Cycle has chain drive with no-contact heat-free resistance, as well as the normal peddling sound of a bike. It also has a Smart Release safety system and coasting on-demand that less proficient cyclists might find beneficial. Upgrading to the Keiser M3 gives you similar features, including the LCD monitor, but at a significantly increased price point. The only complaint current owners have is that SB900 bike arrives in one big, heavy box, so you might need a strong friend to help you get it up any stairs.

      Final Word...

The Sole SB900 offers a lot of value. It is hard to find something not to like in this exercise bike, unless you are more comfortable on a recumbent bike. The quiet ride will keep your mind peaceful and your roommates happy; the price should keep your wallet happy; and the sturdy construction, extreme adjustability and customizations available, as well as the convenience of the integrated LCD monitor, are sure to keep your body happy.
