The Bad

Some potential problems or challenges with the bike include:

  • Non-adjustable seat, which may be problematic and provide less lumbar support if you’re especially short or tall
  • Padded mesh seat can sometimes tear even after normal amount of use
  • Packaging is not the best for such a high-end product, which means the bike sometimes arrives with dents, breaks, or scratches (though customer service is generally helpful in addressing such problems)
  • The LED screens are text-only, without pictures, and do not always make it easy to track the kind of terrain you’re virtually experiencing in a given workout

The Verdict

In general, customers seem quite satisfied with the Livestrong LS6.OR Recumbent Bike. While the LED technology is a little old-fashioned, and the mesh seat could be more durable, these small glitches are far outweighed by the positives of a smooth, quiet ride, multiple pedal resistance levels and the great variety of fitness workouts provided. The Kettler Giro R Programmable recumbent bike has a comparable price and many similar features, but with only 8 adjustable fitness programs and a heavier fly wheel. For comfort, versatility, and price, the Livestrong LS6.OR Recumbent Bike is an excellent choice whether you’re just beginning to work out or looking for more advanced fitness training. Customers can also feel good about the purchase, since the company makes donations to the Livestrong Foundation to help those suffering with cancer.
