Hey, whats up? I’m Tim, and I have a confession..
I was once a fat guy.
I want to become the best me, the healthiest me, I can be. I want to help others become their best too because I’ve learned so much on my own journey it would simply be selfish not to share what I’ve learned.
To sum me up – I love to travel and transplanted from my home state of Michigan to Washington DC. I can be a nerd sometimes. I originally went to school at Central Michigan University to become a music teacher (I play trumpet and euphonium!) but ultimately decided to pursue a career in IT. I enjoy cycling, fishing and the outdoors in general, video games, and checking out new movies. Occasionally I might get caught up in a season or five on Netlix of a TV show. (Dexter, Breaking Bad, Weeds, Mad Men are my favs!) I’m also a loser (of over 100 pounds!) totally naturally. I enjoy helping my fellow primates reach their personal fitness, strength, and weight loss goals while continually improving mine. When I’m not traveling to new places, I enjoy wildlife, technology, and strength training.
One day near the end of 2013 I was working along in my 9 to 5 job and realized I needed to do something more. Something beyond just a career in a corporate office..
I realized I want to make the world a better place by sharing my experience of losing over 100 pounds and getting stronger than I ever thought I could.
I built this blog to motivate, educate, and provide a fun and unique way for you to learn about fitness and getting in shape and also to make some new friends, build a community, and inspire to make the world a healthier place by sharing my own fitness progress.
What about you? Maybe you never found the right way to get started. Maybe you were sucked into spending money on some fitness gimmick, magic pill, or bad advice. If you’ve ever asked yourself:

…You found the right place!
I was raised in a small, poor family in small rural town in Michigan. In fact almost everyone was poor where I came from. What that meant for me as a kid was eating a lot of cheap and processed food.
For the first sixteen years of my life I ate almost nothing but sugary cereal, chips, crackers, pasta, and pop (yes, we call it POP in Michigan!).
By high school I had ballooned to over 300 pounds. By then my parents had divorced. My dad disappeared from my life. My mom worked night shift and I had all of this time to myself. Basically, I was bored and alone.
So I ate.
When I was 18 in 2004 I was diagnosed with type 2, adult onset diabetes due to my lifestyle.
I had to make a change.
I always dreamed about being fit, but it always felt like an unachievable dream – like something that you could only be born with or see in Hollywood. The doctor told me my pancreas would fail as a result of the diabetes and I’d be lucky to live to age 50.
My thoughts started to race.
I had to make a change, and I didn’t know where to start.
What ensued was thousands of hours of self-education, getting a broad mix of good and bad advice, trial and error, trying and testing things myself, failed and successful diets and lifestyle changes, until I learned to strike a balance.
I reversed type 2 diabetes, lost over 100 pounds, renewed my confidence, and changed my life.
To me it only makes sense to me to give back, and help you reach your goals because so many people helped me along the way both online and in real life.

Through this blog I want to be totally transparent about everything I’ve learned, accomplished, and will continue to achieve in regards to my fitness goals – I’ve documented my entire transformation and everything is out there for you to see. If you’re trying to lose weight, build muscle, or get fit, I sincerely hope my experiences including my success and failures – will help you on your journey to achieve your goals.

This isn’t because I don’t want to help people, but because to be totally honest the information you need can be found on my blog or other places on the internet.
I don’t consider myself a fitness “guru”. The things I write about and teach are not secrets and most definitely are nothing close to “lose weight fast” gimmicks.

Losing weight or achieving any fitness goal takes a lot of hard work, patience, and consistency. I want to help you do that the right way. I’m never going to come at you with a hard sell or some long promise ridden sales pitch – just my own experience and recommendations based on things I’ve done or that have worked for me.
I will speak only from my experience and I don’t want you to feel like you owe me anything because of it. This is simply my way of “paying it forward” for all the amazing people that have helped me along my continuing journey.
